Tubing
Is river tubing in Bali safe? Wos River tubing for beginners, kids, and non-swimmers
Updated · By the Bali Activity Tours desk in Ubud
Short answer
Yes, for most visitors. Wos River tubing near Ubud is a guided float on an inflatable tube through a gentle jungle canyon, not whitewater rafting. Everyone wears a life jacket, a guide stays with the group, and strong swimming is not needed. Children from about 6 can join. The real risks are rocks and high water after rain.
Wos River tubing near Ubud is a calm, guided float. Ages, swimming, rain, what to wear, and when to raft instead. Rp 500.000 solo, Rp 450.000 each.

What river tubing on the Wos actually is
You sit in an inflatable tube and drift down the Wos River through a narrow canyon of mossy walls and clear pools. There is no paddle team and no Class II–III drop: the current does the work and the guide sets the pace.
It is not canyoning. There are no ropes, rappels, or cliff jumps. Allow about 2.5 hours including the briefing, the float, and changing.
How the float is kept safe
- A life jacket for every guest, fitted before you enter the water
- A safety briefing at the river on how to sit, steer with your hands, and get out
- An English-speaking nature guide who stays with the group the whole way
- Insurance for ages 6–65 in the ticket
- The guide decides the line through shallow or rocky stretches, and when to walk a section
What can go wrong, and how to avoid it
Tubing injuries are mostly bumps and scrapes, not drownings. Most of them are avoidable.
- Rocks in shallow water: lift your seat and keep your feet forward when the guide calls it
- Slipping on wet rocks getting in and out: wear sandals that strap on, not flip-flops
- Dropping a phone or sunglasses: use a waterproof case on a lanyard, or leave them in the car
- High, brown water after heavy rain: the guide can delay the float or move the start
- Sunburn in the open stretches: waterproof sunscreen before you leave
Kids, non-swimmers, and older guests
Children about 6 and older can float in a life jacket. You do not need to be a strong swimmer, but you should be comfortable in moving water and happy to get splashed.
Insurance covers about ages 6–65. If anyone is younger or older, tell us the ages when you book and we confirm before you pay. Skip tubing if you are pregnant or have a serious back problem: the tube bumps over shallow rocks.
Tubing or rafting: which is safer?
Tubing is the gentler of the two. Rafting has bigger rapids but a crew guide steering every raft.
