Is a Kintamani jeep tour the same as a Mount Batur jeep tour?

Yes. Kintamani is the district and Mount Batur is the volcano in it. Every operator's jeep starts from the Kintamani side and drives up Mount Batur.

What time does the Kintamani sunrise jeep start?

Hotel pickup is 02:00–03:00 from Ubud and the south coast, so you reach the jeep base before 05:00. From a Kintamani hotel it is much later. Sunset jeeps pick up at 14:30–15:30.

What should we wear for a Batur sunrise?

A warm layer you can sit in at the viewpoint and closed shoes. The tracking walk requires closed shoes. Bring swimwear if you add a hot spring.

Kintamani jeep tour: private Mount Batur sunrise jeep

A Kintamani jeep tour is a private 4WD drive up Mount Batur for sunrise or sunset, then down onto the black lava field. Three ways to book it, all with hotel pickup.

Kintamani is the highland district; Mount Batur is the volcano inside its caldera, and Lake Batur lies at its foot. So a Kintamani jeep tour, a Mount Batur jeep tour, and a Batur sunrise jeep ride are the same drive: from the Kintamani jeep base up volcanic tracks to a viewpoint around 1,350 metres, then onto the black lava flows. There is no hike on the sit-in jeep.

Pick one of three tours. The private jeep is Rp 2.000.000 for two guests sit-in, Rp 1.800.000 with a short guided walk, and Rp 750.000 per person from three. The jeep with a hot spring is from Rp 900.000 per person, with the Batur natural hot spring or Toya Devasya ticket included. The full Kintamani day adds a coffee tasting and a rice-terrace stop for Rp 1.300.000 per person. Every price includes hotel pickup, breakfast, the entrance fee, insurance for ages 6–65, and tax.

The jeep viewpoint is much colder than Ubud at dawn. A warm layer matters more than hiking boots on the sit-in jeep. Cloud sits in the crater some mornings. We still run the drive, but nobody can promise Mount Agung will be clear.

The summit trek is a different product from a different operator. Our jeep page says so on purpose, so sunrise hikers are not sold a seat in a car.
